What is Car Shipping?
Importing a car from the US to Nigeria takes more than shipping it. You need the right paperwork, an ocean freight booking, Nigeria Customs clearance and someone to get it to your door. We handle all of it, so you don't have to work it out alone.

RoRo, short for roll on, roll off, means the car is driven onto the ship. It's usually cheaper and suits cars in good running order. Container shipping gives extra protection and is better for high value cars, or cars that don't run.

Title and Export Papers
We get the export title and clear any liens on the car, both of which are required before it can ship.
To the Port
We move the car to the US port and book it on the next available RoRo vessel or container.
Ocean Transit
The car crosses the Atlantic, which usually takes 4 to 6 weeks from departure.
Inspection and Customs
We handle the inspection at the Nigerian port and complete Nigeria Customs clearance, paying all duties and levies due.
Delivered to You
Your car is driven or trucked to your location in Nigeria and handed over with all its documents.
Frequently asked questions
How old can the car be?+
Nigeria sets an age limit on imported used vehicles, and older cars also attract higher duty. Tell us the year and model before you buy and we'll confirm it can be cleared.
RoRo or container: which is better?+
RoRo is cheaper and usually quicker. A container gives more protection and lets you pack goods inside the car. For high value cars, we recommend a container.
What duty will I pay?+
Duty depends on the car's value, age and engine size, and can be a large part of the total cost. We give you a full duty estimate before you commit, so there are no surprises at the port.
Can I put items inside the car?+
Only with container shipping. RoRo vessels don't allow any cargo inside vehicles.
