Overview

What is Nigerian Food Items?

Some things you just can't buy abroad, or not the way they taste at home. We ship Nigerian foodstuff from anywhere in Nigeria to family, friends and businesses in the US, the UK and other countries, so the people you love can cook with the real thing.

Food is the most tightly controlled thing you can send overseas, and it's where most shipments go wrong. Before anything ships, we check every item against the destination country's import rules, pack it so nothing leaks, spoils or smells, and label it properly for customs. For the US, we file FDA Prior Notice, which is required for food imports.

If something on your list can't be sent, we tell you before you pay, not after it's held at the border. That's how your box gets through customs and onto someone's kitchen table.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Which Nigerian food items can I send?+

Most dry, well packed foodstuff travels well, including garri, egusi, ogbono, crayfish, dried fish, spices, seasoning, beans and snacks. Send us your list and we'll confirm every item before you pay.

What can't I send?+

Fresh or raw meat, bush meat, and fresh fruit and vegetables are banned or heavily restricted in the US and the UK. Some cooked and homemade foods are restricted too. Rules change, so we check your list every time.

Will customs open my box?+

They can, and sometimes do. Correct labelling and paperwork mean that if your box is opened, it's far more likely to be released quickly and sent on its way.

How much does it cost?+

Food is priced by weight. Tell us roughly what you're sending and we'll give you a quote, with no obligation to book.
